Yabba Dabba Dooo!
In 2006 I helped Flash animate a Fruity Pebbles spot featuring the Flintstones at  Wit Animation.

Flinstones "Fruity Pebbles"

I'll always remember Gigantor as one of my earliest influences at age four. It's catchy mambo tune, and dynamic action, ushered me into the toon world. After a brush with child acting, my mind was made up at the age of ten to become an animator.

At age 14, I started an informal mentorship program at Duck Soup Productions, a commercial studio in Santa Monica, CA. Under Duane Crowther (Yellow Submarine) and Amby Palowoda (Snow White), I worked on many animated spots throughout my college years, gaining valuable training and great exposure to the various cutting edge styles of the time.

Sylvester's "9 Lives Dry"

Later, I found a niche in effects animation in the early 80's, working on shows such as AUTOMAN (starring Desi Arnaz, Jr. and Chuck Wagner)...

...and MISFITS OF SCIENCE (with Courtney Cox). I gained the reputation as one of the Hollywood "electricity guys", rendering hand drawn, optically printed FX in a pre-digital age.

Misfits of Science - Totally 80's electro

Especially fun was, BILL AND TED'S EXCELLENT ADVENTURE, who I believe is the slightly more intellectual cousin of Bevis and Butthead. Lot's o' FX in this one, even Cray generated background plates for their flythroughs to the next dimension!

Later, I fulfilled a childhood dream of animating on the PEANUTS specials at BILL MELENDEZ PRODUCTIONS. I animated on 4 specials; THE NASA SPACE STATION, THE WRIGHT BROTHERS AT KITTY HAWK, THE GREAT INVENTORS, and BUILDING THE TRANSCONTINENTAL RAILROAD.

Peanuts

This warmed me up for animation and layout on the first 3 seasons of THE SIMPSONS at Klasky Csupo, We had no idea this show would run longer than THE FLINSTONES, or THE COSBY SHOW, or anything else for that matter.

The Simpsons

Between shows, I had a taste of foreign travel and a return to full animation. I traveled to London to work on FIEVEL GOES WEST, as an FX animator. This classic movie not only opened my eyes to life outside of Hollywood, but also gave me the opportunity of working in a more illustrative style once again.

Upon returning, legendary Ralph Bakshi's COOL WORLD called for "electricity FX", among other exciting shots. I worked all the way through to the last shot with an animation original, Mr. Bakshi.

Cool World - Hip Theatrical Trailor

During the 90's, FX animators (and everyone else) were more or less forced to come to terms with the computer. I wasted no time, and ventured to I.L.M. to animate J.F.K. on FORREST GUMP, among other shows. I worked closely with Doug Chaing and the rest of the very talented I.L.M. crew, as I cut my teeth on the world of UNIX, Softimage, and a myriad of other tools of the modern digimator.

I later returned to Hollywood to work at RGA/LA on the MORTAL KOMBATprojects;a direct to video piece and the movie. As well as a stint at DREAMWORKS INTERACTIVE working on THE LOST WORLD pre-visualization, and the GOOSEBUMPS CD-ROM, Escape from Horrorland.

Mortal Kombat - (See demo reel page )

Recently, I was a technical director at CENTROPOLIS EFFECTS on GODZILLA, using Softimage, Renderman, and Mental Ray. The studio even flew us all to New York's Madison Square Garden for the premiere! I think animators are finally moving up the food chain.

I've also designed in 2D on two WB shows called The Oblongs, and Mission Hill,

Mission Hill - "Republican Vampire, Ooo!"

I also helped storyboard and design the first ever Flash feature called Lil Pimp for Sony/Revolution studios.

In 2003, we completed a new Peanuts Christmas Special called"I Want A Dog For Christmas" for Bill Melendez Productions!

I also designed at Renegade Animation on a Cartoon Network show called Puffy Ami Yumi.
